The Sun StorageTek 5000 NAS Administration course provides students with a foundation of knowledge and skills to work with network attached storage (NAS) systems, including being able to properly cable, configure, and troubleshoot basic problems.

Students who can benefit from this course

System Administrators and Storage Administrators who need to support the Sun StorEdge 5x10 NAS appliance and the Sun StorageTek 5x20, including the supporting hardware, software, and customized operating system

  • Differentiate between hardware and software problems

  • Replace typical FRU components

  • Configure NAS software

  • Upgrade NAS firmware

  • Install and upgrade an existing NAS to a clustered configuration

 

  • Diagnose typical level 1 support problems

  • Analyze logs and troubleshoot operational problems

  • Cable NAS arrays properly

  • Assess configurations to determine if they are valid

  • Interpret the compatibility matrices for each product

  • System Administration for the Solaris 10 Operating System, Part II (SA-202-S10)

  • Perform advanced system administration on Solaris servers

 

  • Configure Solaris OS servers to share file systems

  • Be aware of event logging

  • Perform network administrative tasks to allow individuals access to a Solaris server

  • Set up shares in a Windows environment
