Requirements Elicitation with Use Cases  (TT-1330)

In this three-day workshop, we will learn to extract and record requirements of software projects. Making proper use of requirements and use cases improves the quality of software because they enhance the team's understanding of the needs earlier in the software development life cycle. Creating good requirements and use cases is a skill that is as much an art as it is a science. In this class we will learn to create them properly. The course is taught as a role-playing workshop. We will start off with a scenario and a project charter from which to work. Then, as a group, we will create the requirements for the software that would be built. We provide templates and guidelines and instruct in small chunks as the requirements and use cases take shape. We cover UML Use Case diagrams, how to specify and create them, proper levels of detail, happy paths as well as alternate paths, pre-conditions, post-conditions, good techniques, use case analysis, evaluations, and testing scenarios.
