Optimizing Oracle Solaris for Oracle Database is an advanced curriculum course building on Oracle administration and tuning courses. It is focused on optimizing the Solaris 10 operating environment when the Oracle database is being deployed. This course is intended for Oracle DBAs who require a detailed understanding of the impact of the Solaris 10 OS configuration on Oracle DB performance. This course highlights the many tuning features and practices found only in the Solaris 10 operating system.
During this course, the Oracle DBA assumes the role of the Solaris System Administrator. As the system administrator, the student explores key Solaris 10 tuning features, such as optimizing ZFS file systems, optimizing network I/O performance, optimizing memory performance, optimizing CPU performance, and best practices for running the Oracle database in Oracle Solaris Containers.
Throughout the course, students practice the art of tuning the Solaris 10 operating environment by performing a series of guided, hands-on labs that walk the student through the critical tasks associated with optimizing the Solaris 10 OS. These labs include case studies that showcase performance optimization best practices when tuning various Solaris 10 features.
This course does not address tuning Oracle database and related products directly. Rather, it focuses on optimizing the Solaris 10 OS when the Oracle database is present. After attending this course, the Oracle DBA will have a sound understanding of Solaris 10 tuning practices to enhance their working relationship with Solaris System Administrators.
Learn To:
- Assess Solaris OS performance when running Oracle DB
