The Eclipse Platform provides an open source platform for creating an extensible, seamlessly integrated development environment. It is designed for building integrated development environments (IDEs) that can be used to create applications as diverse as web sites, embedded Java programs, C++ programs, and Enterprise JavaBeans. This open platform allows anyone to build tools that integrate flawlessly with the environment and other tools.


One of the results of this open nature is that Eclipse has evolved into a powerful toolset to support many of aspects of sound Java development.
The key to the seamless integration of tools with Eclipse is the plug-in. With the exception of a small run-time kernel, everything in Eclipse is a plug-in. This means that a plug-in you develop integrates with Eclipse in exactly the same way as other plug-ins. This course explores several useful and powerful plugins that assist in delivering consistent, excellent code.

  Core Eclipse 3.6 / Indigo Tooling is a comprehensive, hands-on workshop geared for developers who need to develop enterprise applications using Eclipse®, using a variety of new and useful Eclipse plug-ins geared to enhance and speed their development efforts.

  This is a beginning level development course, designed for experienced Java developers who wish to get up and running with Eclipse immediately.

  Attendees should have practical Java and JEE development working knowledge.

Hands-On Learning
  This class is “technology-centricâ€, designed to train attendees in essential Eclipse development skills coupling the most current, effective techniques with the soundest coding practices. Throughout the course students will be led through a series of progressively advanced topics, where each topic consists of lecture, group discussion, comprehensive hands-on lab exercises, and lab review. This workshop is about 50% hands-on lab and 50% lecture. Multiple detailed lab exercises are laced throughout the course, designed to reinforce fundamental skills and concepts learned in the lessons. Because these lessons, labs and projects are presented in a building block fashion, students will gain a solid understanding of not only the core concepts, but also how all the pieces fit together in a complete application. At the end of each lesson, developers will be tested with a set of review questions to ensure that he/she has fully understands that topic.
