This course discusses new features that have been provided to streamline backup and recovery tasks. It introduces features that unify related recovery files within a specific area, simplifies the use of RMAN BACKUP commands, and simplifies database administrator tasks.

 
 

Compétences acquises
 

  • Perform recovery without taking a whole backup after opening the database with RESETLOGS

  • Place all data files in online backup mode with the ALTER DATABASE BEGIN BACKUP command

  • Use the ALTER DATABASE END BACKUP command while the database is open

  • Backup to and restore from a recovery area

  • Catalogue multiple files using the CATALOG START WITH command

  • Drop and uncatalog databases using RMAN

  • Perform a hot restore using the SWITCH DATABASE command

 

  • Use the RMAN BACKUP command to create image copies

  • Use simplified RMAN BACKUP commands

  • Enable block change tracking

  • Catalog and uncatalog backup pieces

  • Recover data files not backed up

  • Make proxy copies of archive log files using RMAN

  • Apply incremental backups to data file image copies using RMAN
