Part 1: During the first two days, the course helps architects and development leads start modeling using UML with the IBM Rational Software Architect Standard Edition, IBM Rational Software Architect for WebSphere Software, or IBM Rational Software Modeler tools. Students gain a hands-on experience with Rational Software Architect as they are introduced to the tool's modeling features and integrations with other tools. Students learn to use model templates, UML diagrams, and the RequisitePro and WebSphere Business Modeler integrations. This course is designed to be customized to include modules on patterns and transformations, static analysis, topology and team modeling.

Part 2: In the last day, the course provides an introduction to domain-specific modeling in IBM Rational Software Architect. The course describes the characteristics of domain-specific languages (DSLs) and the advantages of domain-specific modeling (DSM). Using a simple case study, the course also describes and demonstrates how to design and implement DSLs in UML with UML profiles, and how to generate executable code from a domain-specific model. Rational WBT courses provide a training advantage for you, helping you get up to speed on IBM Rational tools and best practices. This boot camp is a combination of the following two courses:

  • Essentials of Rational Software Architect V7.5 (RD565): 2 days
  • Domain-Specific Modeling with IBM Rational Software Architect V7.5 (RD420): 1 day.
