DB2 9 for z/OS Data Sharing Implementation Workshop  (CV450)

Format: Formation en classe avec formateur
Autres formats:

This 4.5 day lab course is designed to teach DB2 professionals the components of DB2 9 for z/OS data sharing, z/OS, z/OS Parallel Sysplex, and how to plan for the implementation of DB2 data sharing. Lab exercises will reinforce the lecture material, and will allow the lab teams to enable a three member data sharing. If time allows, an optional unit will introduce the major issues of data sharing performance.

Note: Data Sharing recovery and restart considerations are not covered in this course. These issues are discussed in:

  • DB2 9 for z/OS Data Sharing Recovery / Restart, no labs (CV420) or
  • DB2 9 for z/OS Data Sharing Recovery/Restart Workshop (CV920), which includes lab exercises.

This Course is Certified By IBM   Flex Training Savings

Compétences acquises

  • Describe DB2 for z/OS data sharing components
  • Describe a z/OS parallel sysplex environment
  • Describe how DB2 data sharing utilizes z/OS sysplex services
  • Plan for and implement DB2 data sharing
  • Operate a DB2 for z/OS data sharing group
  • Describe the components in detail that will implement, monitor, and
  • tune the following DB2 data sharing components: Group buffer pools, Global locking structure, and SCA (Shared Communications Area)
  • Identify key performance areas for a DB2 data sharing environment (Optional)

Qui peut en profiter

This advanced course is intended for DB2 professionals, DB2 system programmers, and DBAs, as well as other z/OS support personnel responsible for implementing DB2 data sharing.

While the course exercises are performed on a DB2 9 for z/OS system, the content is appropriate for individuals who are running on DB2 10 for z/OS.

Préalables

This lab course assumes that you have a strong DB2 systems background, with a working knowledge of DB2 recovery, and general principles of system and database administration. These topics are strongly recommended and covered in the following courses:

  • DB2 for z/OS Systems Administration (CV85), which is strongly recommended.
  • DB2 for z/OS Database Administration Workshop P1 (CV83), (recommended prerequisite)
  • DB2 for z/OS Systems Implementation Workshop (CV86), (recommended prerequisite)
  • DB2 9 for z/OS Transition Workshop (CV30), (recommended prerequisite)
  • This course has an alternative: DB2 for z/OS Data Sharing Implementation (CV410), which is lecture-only.
