This one day instructor-led course provides base level skills on how to configure Hitachi Adaptable Modular Storage 2000 Family storage systems as external storage in an enterprise environment. Learners will become familiar with the architecture, physical layout, principles of operation and configuration requirements of the Hitachi Adaptable Modular Storage 2000 Family storage systems. Key software products will be introduced. Lecture sessions are supported by practical exercises designed to provide participants with opportunities to enable a host operating system to recognize logical volumes on the storage systems. Lab activities include hands-on practice using the resource management tools available on the systems.

Upon completion of the course, the learner should be able to:

Give a high-level overview of the architecture and principles of the operation of Hitachi Adaptable Modular Storage 2000 Family storage systems
Describe the software on the Hitachi Adaptable Modular Storage 2000 Family storage systems needed to create and map logical units (LUNs) [Optional topic]
Install the graphical user interface (GUI) version of the Storage Navigator 2 management utility and register the Hitachi Adaptable Modular Storage 2000 Family storage systems
Install product license keys

Create RAID groups and LUNs
Create Host Groups, enable Host Group Security, and register the World Wide Name (WWN) of attached host bus adaptors (HBAs)
Map internal Hitachi Adaptable Modular Storage 2000 Family storage LUNs to Host Group LUNs
Describe the steps needed to create a cache-resident LUN [Optional topic]
