This five day instructor-led course explores the Hitachi Tuning Manager software architecture and explains the procedures to successfully install and configure it on MicrosoftÂ® WindowsÂ® and Sun Solarisâ„¢ operating systems. In addition, the purpose, benefits, and major components of Hitachi Tuning Manager software are discussed, including the License Information Management feature. The course covers the use of the Hitachi Tuning Manager software to monitor, analyze, diagnose, and forecast system performance.

The course provides an extensive set of lab activities to give practical experience on installing and configuring Tuning Manager server and agents on Microsoft Windows and Sun Solaris operating systems. Furthermore, the lab activities familiarize the learner with the use of reports and alarms to proactively manage storage systems.

Upon completion of the course, the learner should be able to:

Describe the Tuning Manager position within the Hitachi Storage Command Suite
Describe Hitachi Tuning Manager software components and architecture
Install and configure all components of Tuning Manager in a Microsoft Windows and Sun Solaris environment
Log in and navigate the Tuning Manager graphic user interface (GUI) features of the Main Console and of Performance Reporter
Perform various available administrative tasks

Outline how Hitachi Tuning Manager software allows for the optimization of storage performance
Create agent-level alarms and perform agent management
Identify the causes of performance problems using a methodology for top-level diagnosis
Use Tuning Manager Performance Reporter to run and modify system reports and create new user reports.
