This two day instructor-led course provides the learner with the knowledge and skills to configure virtual tape libraries, virtual tape drives, and virtual cartridges within an installed ProtecTIER virtual tape library. It discusses how to monitor and manage those resources, using both the ProtecTIER Management Server and a backup application. The course also provides an overview of ProtecTIER architecture and performance considerations, highlighting the benefits and operational differences over traditional tape libraries and non-deduplicating virtual tape libraries, including performance and resource monitoring, and capacity planning. The instructor conducts demonstrations showing how to integrate ProtecTIER into a customerâ€™s backup environment, using best practices and considerations for customer-selectable values for ongoing operation and monitoring of the virtual tape library.

Describe the benefits and features of a deduplicating virtual tape library such as ProtecTIER
Discuss the design and performance constraints and limitations of potential ProtecTIER configurations

Monitor and manage the performance and capacity of a ProtecTIER virtual tape library
Perform basic problem determination and create service requests for a ProtecTIER virtual tape library
