This four day instructor-led course provides detailed information on the installation, configuration and administration of Hitachi Business Continuity Manager software. It also presents the new key functionalities available in version 6.0. The course covers how to manage Business Continuity Manager software functions including its capability to improve the operability of large-scale systems and ability to simplify the management of the data replication process for mainframes. It also provides a detailed view of replication configuration and management processes with the full-screen Interactive System Productivity Facility (ISPF) panel user interface. The lab activities include configuring Three Data Center Replication (3DC) with Hitachi ShadowImage® Heterogeneous Replication software ATTime option using the Storage Navigator program; Business Continuity Manager software 3DC Operations; and Managing IBM Peer to Peer Remote Copy® (PPRC) pairs with Business Continuity Manager software.

  Upon completion of the course, the learner should be able to:
 

  • Describe the key features and benefits of Business Continuity Manager software version 6.0 with Hitachi Universal Storage Platformâ„¢ V and VM

  • Identify the four Hitachi copy types

  • Describe the usage of Interactive System Productivity Facility (ISPF) operations to:

  • Discover and configure Business Continuity Manager software copy groups, copy group containers, consistency groups, and Hitachi Universal Replicator software MxN extended consistency groups

  • Execute remote scan and the new Non Generated Device scan functions

  • Manage Hitachi TrueCopy® Synchronous software, Hitachi TrueCopy® Asynchronous software, Universal Replicator software, and ShadowImage Heterogeneous Replication software copy groups

 

  • Use Storage Navigator to build a 3DC environment, including ShadowImage Heterogeneous Replication software ATTime function in the remote site

  • Create the configuration files and operate the 3DC replication using Business Continuity Manager software ISPF Panel functions including Delta-Resync and ShadowImage Heterogeneous Replication software At-Time replication

  • Manage IBM PPRC copy pairs with Business Continuity Manager software

  • Describe the interaction now possible between Business Continuity Manager software and Hitachi Replication Manager software

  • Describe how Business Continuity Manager software supports disaster recovery
