the Oracle certification program.

  • If you are currently Sun Certified, your certification with the Sun Certification title will be recognized under the Oracle program.
  • If you achieve a Java, Oracle Solaris, MySQL or OpenOffice certification after September 1, you will receive a new Oracle Certification title.
  • If you are in the process of preparing for an exam, the format and objectives of these exams will not be changing and your voucher(s), will still be valid through the expiration date and redeemable at prometric.com.
  • If you have completed part one of any of the following exams, you do not need to re-test before moving onto part two or three.

Updated Re-Take Policy


With the transition from Sun to Oracle, all Oracle-branded Sun exams now follow Oracle's retake policy which requires a 14-day wait before retaking a failed exam. The only exams not bound by this retake policy are non-proctored exams (1Z0-007, 1Z0-051, 1Z0-200, 1Z0-204, 310-252 and 310-301); non-proctored exams may be retaken at any time.

Additionally, candidates are no longer limited to three attempts per calendar year for Java, Oracle Solaris (Cluster), MySQL, NetBeans and OpenOffice.org exams.
